More information mapping…

The more information you have, the harder it is to manage it. I\’m sure you\’ve experienced this when trying to sift through 20 pages of Google results.

Grokker is a search application that tries to simplify those result by displaying them graphically. Searches return results in clusters (represented by spheres) that are created by grouping similar documents. The color and size of the spheres represent different types and amounts of information.

Google News has had great success in the few months since its launch, but there can be problems organizing all of the aggregate news articles. The Newsmap is a Web-based porject that displays Google News results using a \”treemap visualization algorithm\”. The stories are organized as colored bands of various sizes.

And, finally, if you\’re interested in trying to visualize the world of blogs, check out this blog map, it maps blogs according to their own specified geo-urls (longitude and latitude). I\’m on there, my coordinates are: 44.98, -93.19.
