Copycats…
Well, the awesome political influence I wield through this blog has finally been proven: just days after I wrote a piece here in support of Dave Thune\’s proposed Saint Paul smoking ban, Minneapolis has introduced a proposal of its own.
And it appears politicians aren\’t the only ones reading my blog; Star Tribune readers, no doubt influenced by my captivating logic, are showing support for the smoking ban in the newspaper\’s online poll. Currently, more than two thirds of respondents support either a full or partial smoking ban in the Twin Cities.
Now that I know I can influence culture and politics with a few strokes of the keyboard, what is in store for my humble, world-changing prose repository? Should I attempt to bring about world peace? And end to poverty? Universal freedom of speech?
Pshaw! Those are the triflings of mere mortals. I want to shake the consciousness of the gods! For starters, I\’d like more temperate weather here in Minnesota. Snow and cold are a welcome change when they come in November, but by January, that whole routine starts getting old.
So, you weather-influencing gods, listen up: no more winter after January. Let\’s just go straight to spring in February, and go from there.
I expect to see the story reported in the Star Tribune by next week: \”Weather-deities propose February winter ban; support strong among constituents.\”
